The Stubblefield Institute Civility Club put on a great event last Thursday, with the annual “Not Your Parents’ Debate” Debate.  Discussion ranged from the influence of social media on children, to abortion, to guns, to corruption in politics, to free speech on college campuses.  Thought-provoking topics!

Civility Club President Eli Hall moderated the evening.  Debaters Jackson Heath, Allison Sawicki, Nick Olsen, and Genevieve Blodgett challenged each other with well-crafted arguments and respectful comments.

This was Blodgett’s second time participating in the annual event. After last year’s debate, she decided to join the Shepherd University Debate and Forensics Team. Several of the other participants are also on the team.

The evening ended pleasantly with pizza and informal conversation.
