SHEPHERDSTOWN — Greg Fields, acting director of the Bonnie and Bill Stubblefield Institute for Civil Political Communication at Shepherd University, said that he is looking forward to hosting an event on Wednesday that he feels will benefit the community in more ways than one.
The event will be a premiere of “The First Step,” followed by a discussion with the producers and guests from the film, including Berkeley County Council President Doug Copenhaver, Pete White, Louis Reed and producers Brandon and Lance Kramer.
“From my perspective, this event is significant, because this film, ‘The First Step,’ illustrates so clearly what we, as a collective, pluralistic society, need — building bridges across the most volatile issues while treating those on the other side with respect, dignity and, ultimately, as fellow citizens rather than adversaries,” Fields said.
